This is a review of the Adidas Karate Uniform.
The enjoyment of training a martial art depends much more on the quality of the equipment one is using a lot more than many would think at first glance. All karate gi and judo gi seem the same, just white, Japanese-styled clothing in which people jump around and scream.
That isn’t the case. There is actually a lot of difference between the quality of different martial arts outfits, and they can mean the difference between a good training session or someone having to call an ambulance, quite literally. This is why, over the years of martial arts training that I have gathered, I have become a harsh critic of martial arts equipment, and that is the light in which I viewed the star of today’s article, the Adidas Karate Uniform.
I found the Adidas Karate Uniform to be a great martial arts outfit, if the wearer gets the sizing correct and if there is even a product in their size. This product has a somewhat smaller range of sizes than most other karate uniforms, but if that issue is settled, there isn’t much to complain about. It is a comfortable, durable and affordable piece of high-quality martial arts equipment.
In today’s review, I will talk about the main features of this product, about some of its pros and cons, and I will also do a short overview of the product to give a little bit of insight into what it is all about. With the review, my goal is to help you in the decision-making process, since finding your way through all of the scammy products and bad reviews can be tiring.

Adidas Karate Uniform Overview
Karate uniforms were made to be the perfect balance between flexibility and firmness. They need to be flexible enough so that you can do a complete wide-stance squat or a high kick without having to pull up the pants (this is actually a way to test whether the Gi fits you well or not), but firm enough to be straight and clean-looking when standing still.
Though this Gi doesn’t have the best fit and design I have tried on, it is more than acceptable for anyone who is beginning their martial arts journey, or perhaps halfway up the ladder already. If you are already a professional, you probably will have a much higher quality Gi ready for any major occasion, so this article might not serve you too well.
The Adidas Karate Uniform is a great Gi for anyone except high-level practitioners, exactly because of its durability and flexibility. It is a great versatile product which will last a long time.
Adidas ClimaCool Technology
One of the most useful features of the Adidas Karate Uniform is the Adidas ClimaCool Technology, which is basically a type of breathability technology that increases the flow of air through the fabric of the clothing, allowing for easier cooling, less sweating, and better body temperature regulation.
This is really useful for a bunch of reasons and is also one of the main positive factors when it comes to this uniform. First of all, the sweating element. Everybody knows that the amount of sweating during training isn’t something people can really control, so it is accepted, however, the less sweat there is, the better it is for everyone. Thus, a martial arts uniform made out of a ventilating material, which allows for much better cooling and for a much fresher experience, will help in reducing these sorts of problems.
On the other hand, it is also important for the uniform’s durability. Even though there are ways to keep your Gi clean for long periods of time, which means years and years, over time, sweat builds up and the fabric starts to deteriorate. The discolorations and the odor can be dealt with, however, the saltiness of sweat can damage the fabric of the clothing, and the frequent washing can do the same to an even larger extent. This is why a more breathable fabric can help preserve your Gi for a lot longer and save you a lot of trouble.
Aside from this, it also just makes classes a lot brighter and fresher!
Strong Stitching on the Lapel
Strong lapel-stitching is a trademark of Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, and Aikido uniforms since those martial arts have a lot of throws, grabs, and grappling-like movements and techniques. However, that doesn’t mean that a karate Gi like this one doesn’t benefit from having well-made and strong lapels. Though most forms of karate taught around the world do not have throws and grabs (check out some articles about traditional Goju-Ryu for example if you are interested in those styles), the lapel of a martial arts uniform is such a central part of the uniform that the quality of it can make or break the durability of the clothing.
The Adidas Karate Uniform had 5 rows of stitching on the lapel, making it a secure and durable element of the gi. This can increase the duration of usage and the confidence with which you can move around in your Gi.
Classic Design
Oftentimes, traditional schools do not like to see martial arts uniforms with special colors or designs
since they think it is a disgrace to the tradition behind karate and the legacy of the masters who have fought and learned an insane amount for us to be able to get the knowledge that we do get now. Though opinions on this issue vary from dojo to dojo and person to person, it is undoubtedly true.
The Adidas Karate Uniform is a classically designed karate Gi, with the Adidas logo at the end of the lapel and in some places on the clothing are the only non-traditional elements of this Gi. This means that you will be able to use it without an issue in probably any dojo.
