Best Heavy Bag Stands

Best Heavy Bag Stands [2023]

Heavy bags are some of the best tools to train combat sports and cardio, and they don’t exist without a high-quality heavy bag stand. For this reason, I have tested a couple of them in recent months and have found the Outslayer Muay Thai Heavy Bag Stand with 350lbs Capacity to be the best heavy bag stand for martial arts and combat training.

Having had my fair share of striking and punching, I have learned to appreciate a well-made heavy bag and an even sturdier heavy bag stand. Heavy bag stands are the foundation of training on the heavy bag, and they don’t get enough attention in my opinion. What is an amazing heavy bag worth if it falls off the wall in 2 months or topples over from some heavy striking?

I have decided to look into these items a little bit and judge them based on a couple of criteria like build quality, stability, looks, durability, and more.

The Outslayer Muay Thai Heavy Bag Stand with 350lbs capacity is my number one choice because it is the best heavy bag stand overall. It is very sturdy, it has a high capacity, it is easy to transport, and is also one of the most stable holders I have ever trained with.

In this article, I will be going through some of the best heavy bags that stand out there, all of which are available on Amazon. I will also go into some tips about purchasing heavy bag stands and some general info on the process. If you are looking for a heavy bag stand for your newly purchased or recently ordered heavy bag, this article is for you!

Outslayer Muay Thai Heavy Bag Stand 500lbs Capacity – Best Overall

Outslayer is a brand that is rising in popularity in the martial arts business, mainly due to its high-quality products like bags and gloves. More and more gyms are buying Outslayer products since their great durability gives them a good reputation.

This heavy bag stand from Outslayer is a great stand that I believe represents everything that a heavy bag stand should. It is simple, sturdy, durable, and easy to set up. It can also hold all types of heavy bags and withstand the strongest of strikes.

One of the best things about this stand is how compact it is while still being sturdy as any of its competitors. A fact of basic geometry is that the fewer sides a shape have (or the fewer points), the more stable it is. This is why it comes as no surprise that this Outslayer heavy bag stand has three legs to hold it, in a triangular shape. Also, it comes with empty sandbags that you can fill up to provide even more stability for the stand, making it virtually impossible to move it in any direction by just kicking or punching it.

Outslayer Muay Thai Heavy Bag Double Stand 10 Year Warranty
  • Made in the USA
  • 10 Year Warranty
  • Adjustable Height
  • 500 lbs Capacity
  • Made out of heavy duty steel

The product also comes with an incredible 15-year warranty, so if you happen to get one that isn’t built as good or just doesn’t hold up the way it is supposed to, you can get it fixed or replaced with ease.

The only downside to this product which I think is very important to emphasize is that it is also one of the most expensive products on this list. However, when reviewing all these stands, I found this to be the highest-quality and most durable one out of all the others, which is why I believe it deserves to hold the top spot on the list.

If you have some money to spare and want to get a very high-quality heavy bag stand for your gym or home, that can withstand the most powerful blows, I highly recommend the Outslayer Muay Thai Heavy Bag Stand with 350lbs of Capacity. If you are interested in purchasing one, check the button below!

Century Heavy Bag Stand – Best Budget Option

Century is another great brand in the combat sports business, though maybe not as popular as Outslayer or others like Everlast. Century’s Heavy Bag Stand is one of the best stands I have ever worked on, and it is also great value for the money, being significantly cheaper than the Outslayer one. This great value for the money is what makes it the best budget option available. Even though it costs less than half of many other stands, it still provides a great and stable training experience.

The one area where I believe this stand fails a bit is the securing process, aka the weighing down of the stand. Generally, either sandbag are used to secure a stand into its place, or screws and metal rods are extended or screwed into the ground to make for an even more secure base.

This Century heavy bag stand has a different type of weighing down mechanism, which works by placing weights onto the three pegs which can be found on the three legs of the stand. Though this can allow you to potentially weigh it down better than the Outslayer can be weighed down, the issue is that the weights you will be putting on will decrease the angle at which you can attack the bag, and also present a risk of a leg injury.

After training with a bunch of other bags and bag stands, it was hard to get used to the limited leg space for me, which I had to do if I didn’t want to injure my shins or my ankles.

Century Heavy Bag Stand, One Size
  • 3 inch tubular steel with three weight pegs for stability
  • Heavy bag and weights not included
  • Made in China
  • Easy to assemble

Aside from this small issue, which makes this bag a better option for beginners than for professionals, in my opinion, this bag is a perfectly reasonable one. It even has a somewhat different design compared to the other heavy bag stands on the market, since it has a white, tubular design, while most other products have a square design and a traditional black color.

Another feature that makes it an awesome product for beginners is the added hook on both forward-facing legs, which are in place to hold a reflex bag in place. You can connect a reflex bag to the top of the stand where you would otherwise put a heavy bag, and use two elastic ropes/bands to tie it to these two bottom hooks and you have a great reflex ball holder as well. This makes it a great beginner or intermediate boxer’s training tool.

If you are looking for a high-quality heavy bag stand that is also priced very reasonably, and if you are willing to give up some leg space for the amount of money you save, this heavy bag stand might be the best option for you.

Everlast 2 Station Heavy Bag Stand – Best 2 Station Stand

Yet another great name in the industry, Everlast is one of the most popular brands in not only the combat sports world but also the sports world in general. They are known for making high-quality, durable, and well-designed products and selling them at reasonable prices. They are just one of those brands you can trust, so it is no wonder that they have a product on almost all lists that have to do with the martial arts industry and training.

One of the great things about this product is that it is, as the name suggests, a 2 station bag stand. This means that it is not only a high-quality heavy bag stand but that it also has a swivel board on the other side, meant to be used for speed bag training. If you are interested in some of the best speed bags you can buy, check out this other set of reviews we have on that topic!

Being a 2 station stand makes this a great product for people looking to expand their home gym, especially for the ones who don’t want to buy multiple pieces of equipment but still want to enjoy the benefits of training on them. With this product, you can get the best of both worlds for a very reasonable price. Though this isn’t the cheapest item on the list, the bang-for-buck ratio is high with this one as well.

Everlast – 2 Station Heavy Bag Stand
  • Your purchase includes Everlast – 2 Station Heavy Bad Stand, 4813BDTC model | Plates are not included
  • Bag Stand dimensions – 47.6″ W x 66.5″ L x 87″ H | Weight limit – 100 lbs. | Clearance space – Side: 4Ft. x 6Ft. Ceiling: 7’ 3” H
  • Not recommended for outside use
  • Adjustable height | Speed bag platform handles all speed bag sizes
  • Rugged, powder-coated steel tubing construction and three weight pegs provide maximum durability. All-steel surfaces are powder-coated for scratch resistance and durability

Also, the materials this stand is made from, and the welding and the thick screws and bolts that hold it together make it a highly durable piece of equipment that should stand the test of time easily.

The only complaint I have about this bag holder is similar to the comment I had on the previous one, which is that the weighing-down mechanism just isn’t the most space-effective one. This one works with the same pegs-and-weights system, which can provide some awesome stability for training, but it won’t provide that 360-degree access to the bag, or even 180 degrees, actually. This to be is a downside, since it doesn’t let one experience the full range of motion and the many side steps and stance switches that can be practiced on a bag that is accessible from all or at least most directions.

I still do believe that this is an amazing product nevertheless, aside from this one mobility issue, there is not much bad to be said about it, and the price really speaks for itself. If you are looking for a product that will allow you to train in multiple different ways and improve different aspects of your game, this might be one of the best products out there for you.

Guide to Buying Heavy Bag Stands

In this section, I will run through a couple of the main things to look out for or pay attention to when buying heavy bag stands, so if you are looking for one at the moment, consider checking these out!

Structure

One of the most important things to watch out for when buying a boxing bag stand of any kind is the structure it has. There aren’t many variations of this, since it is pretty clear-cut which are the ones that work and which don’t, but it is nevertheless important to have this on your mind.

A heavy bag stand especially requires a strong structure, with strong weldings, large extended legs if it isn’t a bolt-down stand, and possibly rods that extend between the horizontal and vertical rods on the stand, which strengthen the structure of the stand. The stronger the structure, the longer the stand will last and the longer you can use it with stability.

Though there isn’t a high chance of your bag stand breaking, the structure is important for a bunch of other reasons. It determines how much the stand will sway with every punch or kick, which is an important factor in the durability of both the stand and the ground you put it on, since the more a stand sways, the more you can damage the floor beneath it, even if the stand is weighed down.

Also, a stable and sturdy structure provides a better boxing bag experience, since the movement of the bag will be more natural and easier to gauge, whereas, with a badly structured stand, you could get extra swaying and unnecessary bag movement.

Brand

With very many items, it isn’t necessarily important to look at the brand of the product you are buying, but with bag stands, I believe it to be important. By making sure that you purchase from a reputable company, you can be sure that the material that the stand is made of is sturdy, that the build is of high-quality, and that it has most importantly, stood the test of time.

Brands that are lesser-known will not have as many reviews or as many customers, thus you cannot do research on the product and are in some sense, buying blindly. However, when choosing a product that has been purchased by many people and used for a long time, you can know what are some of the major problems that come up with the product if there are any, whether it is durable or just how fun it is to use.

Height

One of the aspects of stand-buying that isn’t talked about enough is the height. You always need to check the height of the stand you are purchasing, since very many negative comments in review areas tend to be about the wrong heights. Many people just buy a stand and then are surprised that it is either too low for their bag or too high, which is also not good since it can become more unstable.

When buying a bag stand, make sure you check its height of it. This is especially important for ones that aren’t adjustable, however, do check the range of adjustable stands as well, to make sure you don’t throw money out of the window.

Measure the height of the bag you have or are planning on buying, and also check the height of the space you plan on installing/placing the stand into. It is very unpleasant to spend a bunch of money only to find out that your stand doesn’t fit in your garage, for example.

Our Verdict

All the heavy bag stands which are listed here are amazing and are great options if you are searching for one, however, today’s winner is the Outslayer Muay Thai Heavy Bag Stand with 500lbs Capacity. It is the best one that I have tested and is the best overall due to its incredible stability, sturdiness, and simplicity of the weighing-down process. It leaves a lot more room for one to train, and accidentally kicking or stepping on the sandbags won’t cause any significant injury, and at the same time, these bags are heavy enough to weigh the stand down sufficiently.

It also looks great, which isn’t always the most important part of buying a heavy bag stand, but it sure adds to the experience when walking into the gym you see an aesthetically pleasing boxing stand.

It does cost more than some other items on this list, but for that, you are getting 15 years of warranty and unmatched craftsmanship.
