Venum Impact Sparring Gloves Overview
Venum Impact Sparring Gloves are MMA-style combat gloves, used in training scenarios by many combat sports and martial arts practitioners, may they be in the beginner or the professional sphere.
Though the official footwear of the UFC will remain Rebook, the other clothing apparel will be taken over by Venum from April 2021. Aside from being one of the best elite and professional brands, Venum also produces lower-level, budget options. Their immense product lineup of high-quality products makes the name of the company a force to be reckoned with in the business.
The Venum Impact Sparring Gloves are some of the best and highest rated sparring gloves online, and also from Venums lineup. Made out of semi-leather and multiple layers of foam, together with the high-quality wrist strap, all come together to provide a great feel and perfect sparring experience.
Another thing that sets these gloves apart from the others is the awesome design. Venum really has some of the coolest looking gear on the market, and pairing that with high-quality gives us a great product.
Multi-layered Foam
Many lower-quality MMA and combat gloves are made of one layer of foam or some other, worse type of filling material. The Venum Impact MMA Gloves have multiple layers of foam, which makes them higher in quality than many gloves in the competition.
There are a couple of reasons why multi-layered foam is considered to be of higher quality. The first is obvious: better shock-absorption. When buying such gloves, the clear reason for that is either sparring or doing some bag training. Either way, the wrist, knuckles, and other small bones in one’s arm can become seriously damaged from the constant beatings. One layer of foam tends to flatten out really quickly, and also doesn’t provide enough stability for one’s hand.
The other reason is durability and comfort. Several layers of foam make a better fit possible since the foam is more flexible and can adjust to a hand more than a single-piece foam could. As mentioned before, foams tend to flatten out, and multi-layering also helps with that.
As a result, you get a perfectly fitting, durable, high-quality pair of gloves that will protect your wrists and hands from injury, which means you don’t need to play it safe in the gym.
High-quality Semi-leather
Another great feature of this product is the high-quality semi-leather that it is made of. They call this material Skintex, and it makes this product also vegan-friendly, for the people out there who don’t want their gloves to contain animal parts.
Leather is great, and many people love the vintage feel and the texture of real animal skin on their gloves, just like its durability, style, and tradition. However, there are many people who don’t want real leather for a couple of reasons.
One of the most common points is animal rights. Many vegetarians, all vegans, and also some “average-diet” people do not appreciate animal skin being stretched out onto their hands to provide protection. Venum’s MMA Sparring Gloves aren’t made of any animal-related products, so they are completely vegan.
On the other hand, original, authentic leather tends to up the price tag of the product, which is why when beginners look for a cheaper pair of gloves, they will always find synthetic leather gloves. The reason Venum is so good is that their synthetic leather is very high-quality.
If you are looking for gloves that are vegan and are not made out of leather, one of the best choices you have are these Venum gloves, since they are just as durable and feel just as nice, but without the real leather. This means you won’t have to worry about replacing your product early, and you will still get an awesome traditional glove experience.
Attached Thumb-Guard
These gloves also have attached thumb guards, even though many karate or MMA gloves do not. This is a really useful feature, since many accidents can happen while sparring or hitting the bag, and this addition reduces your chances of getting injured for training.
Aside from the actual, physical fact that hurting your finger will be a lot harder to do with these gloves, there is also a great psychological benefit to this in the gym. Hitting harder and with less fear for your thumb or fingers will result in developing the mindset and skills to deliver the knockout blow.
The high-quality of the thumb-guard is also something to respect since such smaller components of gloves and training attire tend to break or tear the first, but there will be no problems with these.
Pros and Cons
- high-quality
- durable
- aesthetic
- comfortable
- great value for money
- sturdy
- possible issues with sizing (often too small for Western people)
- sometimes it is harder to break-in
Our Verdict
I must say, these Venum MMA Sparring Gloves have exceeded my expectations. Even though they are on the budget side when compared to some of the more elite Venum gloves, they hold up really well, they can take a beating and are comfortable for sparring and hit the bag with. I would completely recommend it to anyone who is a beginner, up to intermediate level, or perhaps even above that.
The high-quality structure, foam, and thumb-guard, with the durable and reliable semi-leather, make for one of the best martial arts gloves that I have come across, so don’t be afraid of trying it out!
