This is a review of Seishin Premium Women’s White karate uniform.

If you’ve just started training karate, you’re quickly going to learn just how easy it is to rip your kimono and damage your equipment. It’s always important to get the right materials with your clothing, and Seishin’s karate uniform is definitely offering that.

When you read premium in the name, know that it really means premium. This karate uniform is an amazing fit, and today, we’ll be taking a closer look at it to determine just how good it is. It’s important to make the right choice when you’re choosing your fit, as you don’t want to spend money on something that doesn’t fit well and that’s going to rip apart soon.

Let’s get started!

Seishin Premium Women’s White Overview

Motivation Behind the Clothing

This whole brand was started by Jesse Enkamp – a karate blogger and self-titled “karate nerd”. He was talking to his friend about the lack of better karate uniforms that actually last for a while and don’t rip apart. It seemed like most karate uniforms on the market weren’t made for “regular” karate people who trained hard and enjoyed sweating!

Enkamp has tried tons of brands during his years as an instructor, never being fully satisfied with the feeling, function, form, fabric, cut, or style. So, he decided something had to be done. It was high time that someone had created a karate uniform for karate people, made by karate people.

In his quest, Jesse Enkamp traveled to Okinawa – the birthplace of karate – where he collected ideas and samples of what worked and what didn’t work by meeting living legends and grandmasters of the art. A new sort of uniform soon took shape – the Seishin uniform!

The project finally led to an online crowdfunding campaign, where 7 730 visitors from 73 countries quickly made the Seishin karate suit a reality through their amazing support for this unique innovation of Okinawa. Seishin was a smash hit! In just a few weeks, 27 130 had been raised – proving the fact that people all around the world had longed for a new kind of karate uniform based on the passion, knowledge, and trust of real karate practitioners – just like them.

Today, Seishin is growing faster than ever. With innovation, tradition, and teamwork being the three cornerstones upon which the Seishin vision rests, karate people around the world are discovering that there is such a thing as a “better” karate uniform.

Quality

There is absolutely no way that you’ll find yourself dissatisfied with this uniform, as it’s made of a unique 9.5 oz premium 100% cotton fiber, engineered to feel light but look heavy. This ensures better breathability, meaning that the creators understand that athletes sweat, but that sweating can be reduced by fresh air. Air cooling in gussets reinforced stitching in seams, hems, and strings. All of this only helps the wearer feel better while improving the durability of the uniform.

The color is durably white, meaning that it won’t just wash out after a few rounds in the washing machine.

Women’s Uniform Fit

The specific uniform we’re looking at is specialized for women. Despite karate being a very old sport, uniforms didn’t fit women properly for a long time. Uniforms need to have room for breasts and glutes, something that men don’t have – that’s why men’s uniforms are tighter and actually require fewer materials (despite men usually being larger than women).

You can rest assured that the sizing for this uniform is genuine and that you won’t need to make any alterations. You should just follow the chart that you’ll be able to find in the link below, and there shouldn’t be any problems with sizing. Seishin worked with women martial artists to optimize and refine the fit. This means that there are women practicing karate, just like you, who told the designers exactly what they need to do to make a woman feel comfortable in a karate uniform.

What’s especially important when you’re choosing your karate uniform is that the fit grants you full mobility, and this is something you can definitely achieve with this uniform. The Seishin uniform provides a full unrestricted range of movement in all planes of motion, for low stances and high kicks. Feeling restricted is only going to distract you and weigh you down.

The uniform is also lightweight and breathable for Kumite and everyday training, yet has enough weight and snap for kata. There are three times as much thickness in sleeve cuffs for a snap.

Pros and Cons

ProsCons
uniform made especially for women – actual women athletes worked on the creation of this uniform, ensuring that all of your needs are taken care ofvery expensive – this uniform is nowhere near cheap, and if you want it, you might have to break the bank for it
great quality and durability – the high-quality materials used with this uniform ensure that it won’t rip, that it will feel breathable, and that it won’t wash out quickly
originality – the creators of the uniform worked closely with Japanese grandmasters to create this uniform, going back to the roots of karate

Our Verdict

This is definitely an amazing uniform that’s going to serve you for a long time. Many karate practitioners complain about their uniforms being bad and having to spend money every now and then to buy a new one, but that’s something you definitely don’t need to worry about with this uniform. It definitely covers all the bases and it’s going to make for a great fit.
