Jon Jones does not seem destined to move to the heavyweight division, so his negotiations for the match with Francis Ngannou failed on Thursday night.
Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou have been arguing over the internet for some time, and in all of their discussion, they both made it clear to the UFC that they were interested in a showdown. Of course, a good financial offer was one of the main conditions they set for their employer, but it seems the UFC hasn’t been so keen on this duel after all.
Always on social media, the active Jones took to Twitter last night with the message – “I am currently in negotiations with the UFC”, and then shortly afterwards he described in a series of posts that no agreement had been reached.
Currently in negotiation with @UFC as we speak

Before even discussing numbers, the UFC was unwilling to pay more for the Francis super fight / for me to move to heavyweight. Said I could possibly earn more in pay-per-view buys.

Honestly no, not in the stage of my career. I could retire today. I’ve already done my job, I’ve given this company over a decade of entertainment. https://t.co/8V3iORDXAk

Maybe when they’re ready to do better business I’ll come back, until then health fitness and family.

I should’ve worded that differently, I actually think these guys do great business. Right now things just aren’t where I want them to be.

Luckily he then changes his mind, and writes this.
I’ve had some time to think about it and Im a lot less emotional. Just sad that the ufc doesn’t see my value against the scariest HW in the world. Jan I guess you’re next in line #badbusiness #shocked

To recall, Blachowicz, along with Dominic Reyes, was mentioned as one of the main candidates for the next ‘Bones’ rival, and the story about him started after he knocked out Corey Anderson in February and thus reached the third victory in a row.
