Former boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. decided to react to Conor McGregor’s retirement.
Conor McGregor has announced his retirement for the third time in his career. The former two-time UFC champion announced his decision shortly after the end of last weekend’s UFC 250 event.
“Hello people, I decided to retire as a fighter. Thank you all for the great memories. What a ride it was! This is a photo of my mother and me in Las Vegas, after one victory that was worthy of a world title. Choose your dream home, Mags “Whatever you want is yours,” the Irishman wrote on Twitter, later explaining his decision to ESPN with the words:
“This game doesn’t excite me anymore, that’s the explanation. All that waiting, nothing happens … I’m going through the opponent’s options and at the moment there’s nothing I would like. They just had to let things go on. No I know why they intend to wait with Khabib and Gaethje’s fight until September? You know what will happen in September, it certainly won’t, something else will happen. I had a good plan, but they didn’t accept it. Whatever I suggested, they they went against it just to show their power. They had to organize a fight for me and Justin for a temporary title and so continue with everything.I had my goals and plans for this season.I had everything in order.Unfortunately, with the world what happened happened It happened. And now everything is happening. They want to move me up and down the categories and offer me stupid fights. I don’t care about that, I got over everything, “McGregor said, among other things.
Many soon reacted to Conor’s message, including Floyd Mayweather, from whom he lost in the boxing ring in 2017.
“If I’m not mistaken, didn’t you tell Mike Tyson that you could beat me if our rematch came? And now you’re giving up! I thought you wanted to win the best? If you decide to come back, I’m here and I’ll wait for you with a new penalty,” he wrote.
Recall, Floyd in his message alludes to one ‘exchange’ between McGregor and the legendary Mike Tyson that arose shortly after the famous heavyweight praised the Irishman for his performance against Mayweather.
“Mike, thank you. And know that in the inevitable rematch, with all the knowledge I’ve gathered so far about Floyd’s style and under the guidance of my old boxing coach, I’ll solve that puzzle and beat Floyd. I swear on my life,” McGregor promised at the time.
