After Kamaru Usman defended his UFC welterweight title in the UFC 251 fight against Jorge Masvidal, the question arises as to who should be his next challenger. It all leads to the fact that it will be Gilbert Burns, but there is always the name of Conor McGregor. It is known that the UFC would hardly resist the opportunity to do a great fight with the Irishman in the lead role. But if Usman is asked, it will not be for the welterweight title, at least not for the time it is owned by him.
“It’s a lost story. We all know when Conor only went to the welterweight. Only if he fought lightweight fighters there with a double-digit defeat and that’s because he doesn’t have to lose weight for the lightweight weight class. If Conor wants a piece of that welterweight, he knows where to come. I’m here and I’m not going anywhere,” Usman told TMZ.
He revealed that he had already made an open offer to the Irishman via social media, but that he had not received the answer he had hoped for. In fact, there was no answer in any form.
“He got an offer, I openly offered him a fight. He didn’t even answer. A few days later he answered Anderson Silva’s challenge. Conor is a smart man, he knows it’s better for him to stay retired than to go into a fight he’s sure to lose. If he wants to put my name in his mouth, I’m here. I’m not going to name him. If he does, I’m here,” added Usman, who currently looks quite dominant at the top of his division.
It is not currently known when Usman could perform next. Data on medical suspensions came out yesterday, and he was sentenced to six months with the possibility of shortening after seeing the X-ray. But it is not known exactly what the injury was. During the fight against Masvidal, it was not noticed that he had any problems with anything, and because of that, everyone was surprised when this unpleasant information appeared.
