Although Joe Rogan didn’t fight professionally as a professional MMA fighter, he did compete in the Taekwondo state championship and also competed in kickboxing. From his records, it shows that he was a full contact 4-time Taekwondo state champion meaning he did fight professionally as a Taekwondo fighter in his early years and not a professional MMA fighter.

After his years as a professional Taekwondo fighter, he embarked on his kickboxing journey as a professional kickboxing fighter and ended this journey with a 2-1 record but never ended up fighting as a professional MMA fighter.

With all of these experiences, a lot of his fans and spectators expected him to debut as a professional MMA fighter in one of the UFC live events, however, for Joe Rogan personally, this wasn’t in his plans at all. Although he does show love and interest for the UFC, he never developed an interest in fighting professionally in the championship.

This is probably due to personal reasons or age limitations but asides from not fighting professionally as an MMA fighter, Joe Rogan’s love for the sport is very obvious as he always talks about his time and experience on his podcasts and during his commentary as a UFC color commentator.

During his time as a professional Taekwondo fighter, his record as a Taekwondo fighter includes his full contact 4-time Taekwondo state champion. It’s always surprising when fans realize that Hoe Rogan has no official MMA bouts under his belt, however, it’s no news that he’s an expert in Jiu Jitsu and used to be a professional Taekwondo fighter and kickboxer so he did play his part in participating as a professional martial arts fighter.

Although it’s understandable why there’s a lot of assumption about Joe Rogan not being able to fight, Rogan explained the reason he retired from competing in combat sports. He explains that the reason he’s stopped fighting professionally in combat sports is due to the frequent headaches that he’d develop from sparring and that due to this and along with the UFC being in its infancy stage, he would never compete in MMA.

Rogan is popularly known for being obsessed with martial arts in general with evidence all over the internet depicting his obsession. His love for the sport has made him learn different types of martial arts although he never fought professionally as a mixed martial arts fighter. He usually explains that he sees the art as a hobby and he’ll continue to practice even though he doesn’t fight as a professional. There is footage of Joe Rogan practicing Muay Thai and his movements have been ranked by spectators as very impressive.

Although Joe Rogan doesn’t have an official rank in Muay Thai (publicly), he can be seen in footage practicing his elbows, set-ups, trips, and even his devastating kicks.

Due to his previous experience as a professional Taekwondo fighter, his kicks in particular have transitioned very well into Muay Thai due to his intense practice to develop his skill and technique over the years. His kicks have a near-perfect form along with devastating power as can be seen on footage on his YouTube.

While a lot of people want to know if Joe Rogan is good at Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Joe Rogan’s Jiu Jitsu instructor, Jean Jacques Machado mentioned on Rogan’s podcast as he joined on one of the podcasts that Rogan was so strong and tough to sweep and that he couldn’t sweep him for half an hour.
