Conor McGregor just tweeted that he isn’t exactly happy with the current UFC Lightweight rankings. More precisely, “Notorious” is not happy with the fact that Dustin Poirier is ranked higher than him. Conor and Dustin fought five years ago when Irishman won by a TKO in the first round.
There has been some time we have last seen an aggressive tweet from former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor. Lately, he appeared much more humble in the media and even spoke how he has completely changed. But, in his new tweet, Dustin Poirer became the “victim”. To be more precise, Conor attacked media members who vote and generate the UFC ranking system.
At the top of the UFC Lightweight division, Dustin is ranked higher than McGregor. Respectively, Dustin is ranked number two, while Conor is fourth in the rankings. McGregor’s reactions on Twitter to that particular situation was:
Conor and Dustin fought on the UFC 178 card which took place in July of 2014. McGregor ended up victorious after a minute and a half of the first round. That fight was the one that earned Conor the nickname “Mystic Mac” because he called before the fight that he will knock Dustin out cold inside one round. That was the time people around the world got to see the mental warfare of Conor McGregor at the full display. After the fight, Conor went to become a double champion, while Dustin went to lightweight division where he challenged Khabib for a title last year.
McGregor is currently preparing for his next fight. He wants to fight at the UFC Fight Island this summer. The opponent is currently unknown, but the two names that pop out are Jorge Masvidal for the BMF belt and Nate Diaz trilogy fight. On the other hand, Dustin is probably going to fight lightweight contender Dan Hooker anytime soon.
